Program

Day 1 - Good Wednesday: LARNAKA - ATHENS - KALAMATA
Assembly at Larnaka airport and flight to Athens. Arrival, pick-up and departure with a stopover in Kalamata, the capital of Messinia. Arrival, check-in at our hotel, the rest of the day free for a first walk to the Paplomatadika, in 23rd March Square, which is the liveliest part of the Historical Center. Cobblestoned pedestrian streets, traditional shops and atmospheric ouzeries are waiting for you to explore. Overnight stay.

Day 2 (Good Thursday): KALAMATA - PYLOS - KALAMATA
After breakfast we will get to know the city of Kalamata. We will see the church of the Holy Apostles, a symbol of the city since it is associated with the beginning of the Revolution, the square of March 23, 1821, which took its name from the date Kalamata was liberated from the Turks, the magnificent metropolitan church of the Assumption of Christ, founded in 1860, the Monastery of the Nuns, founded in 1796, the monastery is for women and emerged early on as a renowned center for the production of silk textiles, including the famous Kalamatian scarves. We continue with the Princess of the South, Pylos, known by its Venetian name Navarino. It played an important role throughout the history of Greece. In the port of Pylos in 1827, the allied forces of Britain, France, and Russia in the Battle of Navarino destroyed the Turkish-Egyptian fleet, resulting in the liberation of the Peloponnese. It is amphitheatrically built on two hills overlooking the island of Sfaktiria. Tour of the narrow streets and cobblestone streets with steps and free time in the central square of the Three Admirals, with the century-old plane trees. Return to Kalamata and free time in the square of Kings George II or to watch the service of the Crucifixion.

Day 3 (M. Friday): KALAMATA - KARDAMYLI - AEROPOLIS - CAVES OF DYROS - NEAPOLI
Breakfast and following a beautiful coastal route we arrive at Kardamyli, a seaside village in Messinian Mani. The towers of Mani, the Byzantine churches, the fantastic beaches compose a fairy-tale setting. Our next stop will be the stone village of Laconia, Areopolis. Free time for lunch and we continue for an optional visit to the Cave of Dyros. Our final destination for today is our hotel in Neapoli. Arrival, check-in and free time to rest. In the evening we will watch the procession of the Epitaphs in a nearby church. Overnight.

Day 4 (M. Saturday): MONEMVASIA
After breakfast we will depart for the castle town of Monemvasia, which has stood proudly in its place since at least the 12th century. Upon entering we will see the house of Yannis Ritsos, since Monemvasia was the homeland of the great poet. We continue on the main road with the Byzantine cobblestones and the road leads us to the Central Square with the old cannon and the church of Elkomenos Christos. We will see the historic listed building of the 16th century that houses the Archaeological Collection. We will go up to the Upper Town where the view is magnificent, since at our feet we will see the lower town, the walls and the sea. Free time and return to our hotel. In the evening we visit a nearby church for the Easter Liturgy. Dinner follows at a local restaurant. Overnight.

Day 5 (Easter Sunday): ELAFONISSOS
Christ is Risen!!! Breakfast and free time at our hotel. After the Easter meal at a local restaurant we will depart for Elafonisos, a heavenly small island at the southeastern tip of the Peloponnese. We will tour the island and relax in the picturesque harbor which is also the main settlement of the island, it has its own special charm. Return to our hotel and free time. Overnight stay.

Day 6 (Easter Monday): NEAPOLIS - GYTHEIO - SPARTA - MONASTERY OF MALEVIS - NAFPLIO
Breakfast and we depart for the picturesque seaside Gytheio with its beautiful neoclassical and island color climbing amphitheatrically on the mountainside. We will see the imposing lighthouse, the Tzannetakis tower and the verdant islet of Kranae (this is where Paris and the Beautiful Helen took refuge, according to mythology, before departing for Troy). Free time and we continue for Sparta and the castle-city of Mystras. Our next stop for pilgrimage will be at the historic monastery of Malevi, dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. Arrival and check-in at our hotel in Nafplio and the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 7 (Easter Tuesday): NAFPLIO - ATHENS - LARNACA
After breakfast we will walk through the Old Town of Nafplio, to see the church of Saint Spyridon, the place where the first Greek governor Ioannis Kapodistrias was assassinated, the imposing Syntagma Square with the two Turkish mosques, one of which was used for conferences of the first Greek parliament, and the city's trademark, the Bourtzi. Free time and we say goodbye to Nafplio heading to Athens airport where we will take the return flight to Larnaca.
