Program
Day 1: LARNACA - ATHENS - LIVADIA - ITEA
Gathering at Larnaka airport and flight to Athens. Arrival, pick-up and departure for the water paradise of Livadia and the Krya park. Free time for lunch and to enjoy the enchanting landscape with the ancient plane trees, small waterfalls and watermills. We continue to the seaside town of Itea, which is embraced by the Gulf of Corinth, was founded in 1830 and has an impeccable street plan with wide parallel and perpendicular streets, squares and a coastal front. The entire city faces the sea, here is also the center where the coastal road gathers the most traffic with taverns and cafes. We will stay for five nights to relax, take baths and do our excursions. Check-in at the hotel.
Day 2: ITEA - DELPHI
After breakfast we depart for the Archaeological site of Delphi <https://www.exploring-greece.gr/el/show/38225>. A unique experience, in a few minutes, the landscape combined with the myths and stories of the past, will conquer our hearts and memories. In the following tour we will see, among other things, the ancient Agora <https://www.exploring-greece.gr/el/show/38042>, the Sacred Way <https://www.exploring-greece.gr/el/show/38043>, the Treasury <https://www.exploring-greece.gr/el/show/38044> and the Stoa <https://www.exploring-greece.gr/el/show/38045> of the Athenians and the most magnificent monument of the archaeological site, the Temple of Apollo, where oracles were given, the Ancient Theater <https://www.exploring-greece.gr/el/show/38047> and the Ancient Stadium, which testify to the role that the arts and sports played in the lives of the ancients. Free time to visit the Archaeological Museum which <https://www.exploring-greece.gr/el/show/38041> has to show unique examples of sculptural art, such as the Iniochos and the Sphinx. Optional lunch and return to our hotel.
Day 3: GALAXIDI - TRIZONIA - NAFPAKTOS
After breakfast we will visit Galaxidi which is located in close proximity to Itea, we will see its mansions, the Church of Agios Nikolaos, the Church of Agia Paraskevi, the sundial and we will have free time. We continue parallel to the coast, and on the way we will see small coastal settlements on one side and mountain villages with magnificent views on the other. Our first stop will be at the only habitable island in the Gulf of Corinth, Trizonia <https://www.exploring-greece.gr/el/show/38166>. From Chania we will take the boat that will take us to this small island in just 10 minutes, where there is no room for a car. It has a beautiful natural harbor, anchorage for luxury yachts and sailboats, several taverns specializing in fish and seafood. Free time and we continue to Nafpaktos, which largely retains its traditional character. Tour of its center with its cobblestone streets, traditional houses, and the Venetian harbor with the two picturesque towers at its entrance. Finally, we will climb up to the well-preserved castle and free time to enjoy the view of the city and the nearby Rio-Antirio bridge. Return in the afternoon to our hotel.
Day 4: MONASTERY OF HOSIOS LOUKAS - ANTIKYRA
After breakfast we depart for the slopes of Mount Elikon, where we will visit the Monastery of Hosios Loukas, which is a unique Byzantine monument. UNESCO has included it in the list of “World Cultural Heritage” monuments since 1990 for its magnificent and invaluable mosaics. It is the largest and at the same time the best preserved monastery of the 11th century. It consists of a complex of two churches, that of Panagia which is the oldest and that of Hosios Loukas. Then we will cross Distomo, a village particularly known for the massacre carried out by the German occupation troops on June 10, 1944, to reach the picturesque fishing village of Antikyra. Free time for lunch and return to our hotel.
Day 5: ITEA - ARACHOVA - AGORIANI
Breakfast and departure for Arachova. Today it is the jewel of Parnassos, since in the winter months it is bustling with life, due to the ski resort. Free time to walk and enjoy our coffee and we continue to Agoriani, also known as Eptalofos, the diamond of Parnassos. Drowned in greenery with fir trees, plane trees, walnut trees, chestnut trees and cherry trees, they compose an incomparably beautiful natural landscape. Free time to eat in the central square of the village under the plane trees and very close to the Eptalofos waterfalls. Free time and return to our hotel.
Day 6: ITEA - ATHENS - LARNACA
Breakfast and departure early in the morning for the center of Athens. Arrival and free time for walking and shopping. Early afternoon transfer to Athens airport where we will take the flight to Larnaca.
