Program
Day 1: Larnaca – Athens – Mytilini
Gathering at Larnaca airport and departure to Mytilini with Aegean flights and a stopover in Athens. Arrival, pickup by your leader and transfer to the hotel. Arrangement of rooms and free time at your disposal to take your walk and get to know Mytilini for the first time.
Day 2: Mytilini - Taxiarchis - A. Raphael - Petra
After breakfast we will depart for Thermi for church service at the miraculous monastery of St. Raphael – St. Nikolaou – St. Peace, let us worship and take Holy Communion. We continue towards MANTAMADO to reach the church of TAXIARCHIS who is the patron saint of the island. His miraculous image is made of dirt and blood. We will worship, learn its history and be amazed by the beauty of the landscape. We continue on our way and in less than an hour we reach Petra, where we will have time to eat and of course make a pilgrimage to Panagia Glykofylousa, on the rock with 114 steps.
Day 3: Mytilini - Leimonos Monastery - Perivolios Monastery - St. John Theologian Monastery - Sigri - Eresos
After breakfast we depart for the Leimonos Monastery, which has been standing since 1526 and offers a great work. We will see the cell of Saint Ignatius, the Avaton for women, the amazing Museum and the wonderful gardens. We continue to the Monastery of Peribolis which is located just before Antissa and also a little further down we will visit the famous Ypsilos Monastery, which is dedicated to Saint John the Theologian. We will end up at the Fossil Museum in Sigri, where in addition to the fossils, we will also watch a short film about the type of trees and how they are petrified. Then we will visit Sappho's hometown, the coastal town of Eresos.
Day 4: Mytilini - Our Lady of Agiasos - Karini - Plomari - Catacombs of St. Magdalene
Breakfast and departure for the mountainous beautiful Agiaso, where we will worship the miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary. We can also buy the local products, the most famous being the wood carvings of Agiasos. Passing by Karini we will stop to cool off and also to get to know the tree trunk where, as they say, the popular painter Theophilos stayed for two years. We continue our way and end up after an amazing route in the famous Plomari, where we will have time to eat in the tavernas and walk to get to know the city. We will then stop to meet and worship at the catacombs of Saint Magdalene in Skopelos (one of the five villages of Gera).
Day 5: Mytilini - Athens - Larnaca
Breakfast and free time at your disposal until your departure for Mytilini airport to take the return flight to Larnaca with a stopover in Athens.
