Program
Day 1 (Thursday): LARNACA-CHANIA
Gather at Larnaca Airport and depart by direct Aegean Airlines flight to Chania. Arrival, reception and transfer to the hotel of your choice in the center of Chania. Fit and time free. Overnight.
Day 2 (Friday): CHANIA
After breakfast we will meet the city of Chania which is built around Kasteli hill and on the ruins of Minoan Kydonia. The city is surrounded by historic neighborhoods where people of different nationalities, cultures and religions lived. The monuments they left gave Chania a special character. We will walk the narrow streets of the old town, which leads to the port and will see old Greek, Venetian mansions, as well as Turkish houses. In the cobbled streets you will find shops with traditional handmade textiles and folk art.
The rest of the day free to enjoy the city as you wish. In the evening, there is a church in Agios Nikolaos followed by a tour of the Epitaph to the port. Overnight.
Day 3 (Saturday): KOURNA LAKE - RETHYMNO
After breakfast departure for Lake Kournas, free time for walks and coffee overlooking the calm waters of the lake and the white mountains. We continue to Rethymnon, with the Venetian harbor and the famous Fortezza, which rises on a rock on Paleokastro hill, on the west side of the city. This famous fortress of 1307 m was the largest castle ever built by the Venetians in Crete and was built for 15 years (1537-1588). At the foot of Fortezza today lies the old town with picturesque narrow streets with Venetian buildings, among which the most interesting monument of the city, maintained in excellent condition, is the 16th century Loggia, where the Municipal Library is today housed. Free time to walk the streets and the city's beaches, enjoy your coffee or have a meal. Return to Chania.
Evening church to witness the great miracle of the Resurrection and receive the Holy Light. Festive Lunch at KYDON Hotel (also valid for guests staying at Arkadi Hotel). Overnight.
Day 4 (Easter Sunday): ARGYROUPOLI
After breakfast followed by an excursion to Argyroupoli a village that combines rare natural beauty, in a verdant place. Small picturesque waterfalls, wooden watermills and dense vegetation characterize the landscape.
Easter meal with lamb and authentic Cretan traditional dishes. Return to our hotel late in the afternoon.
Day 5 (Easter Monday): CHANIA - VENIZELS Tombs - LARNACA
Breakfast and some free time for a last stroll in Chania. We depart for the airport early in the afternoon. We will stop at the top of the hill of Prophet Elias, at a point with a unique view of the city of Chania where the Tombs of Venizelos are located, is the burial place of Eleftherios Venizelos and his son, Sophocles Venizelos. Eleftherios Venizelos himself had pointed out the point about the Tombs of Venizelos. Next to his grave is written in metal letters his funeral, which he gave a speech in the Parliament in 1932. Here is also the stone statue of Liberty symbolizing the struggles of the inhabitants of Crete for the idea of freedom, while at the same place it has and the statue of Spyros Kagialdakis. At this point on February 9, 1897, the rebellious Cretans had fortified themselves while the Cretan Revolution was raging. Here is the small church of Prophet Elias. Free time and transfer to the airport and flight to Larnaca.
